A to F
A Bill AGG Bill (William), Robert's brother, has been in touch (4/01) and writes: 'I was at Huish from 1972 through to 1979. Starting in 1H (Steve Harrison. [On leaving] ... I obtained an apprenticeship with what was then GEC (later to become GPT and now Marconi) in Coventry to study for an HND in Telecommunications. The move into Telecommunications was one of the best "failures" of my life as it coincided with the boom in this field in the early eighties. Specialising in Radio I have since worked for a number of Telecommunications companies including Nokia, Hutchison, DSC, Airspan, Formus Communications in Holland, and lately with Cambridge Broadband.
'Leaving Huish in 1979 coincided with a move for the Agg family to Sheffield. (John Agg, my father was also at Huish but he will have to tell you the years!)
'I can remember a few names from my years in 1H onwards, ?? Allen, Simon Armstrong (later to become Head Boy I think), ??Bond, ?? Brogden, Patrick Cowdey (broke his leg skiing in Italy on a school trip ), David Faulkner, Peter Huish, Luigi Lanfranchi, and his cousin Guisepi were both in my year, Patrick Kerslake, Adrian Paul, Paul Summers, ?? Young (The register seems a long time ago!). In a very strange coincidence I was amazed to find that Luigi was also on the same course as me with GEC. We subsequently shared a flat together for a couple of years whilst studying. As with all these things he moved away and we lost contact. The last I heard he was back in Somerset living in Wells'. Bill's e-mail address is billagg@mail.com
Robert AGG Robert writes, 12/00: 'I attended Huish Grammar School from 1970-1976 and would be interested in getting in touch with anyone else who joined John Agrell's class 1A with me'. He adds, 'I can supply some thumbnail info for myself and brother William (two years later) and sisters Joanna & Sarah (they both attended fishboxes)', and we hope to receive more details soon. His e-mail address is RAgg@UPCcorp.com
Ian AITKEN see Ian KEMP
Michael AMBROSE I've had a slightly mysterious note from Michael, apparently using someone else's mailbox. However, he's in his second year at Loughborough, reading PE and English.
Malcolm ATHERTON Malcolm (1973 - 78) writes (10/99): 'Martin Judd has given me this web page and e-mail address. I'd like to get in contact with anyone who may remember me, especially those who were in 5L (Miss Leyshon !!!)
'I'm currently living in Preston, Lancashire; married with two children. I keep in contact with Martin as well as Andy Sweet and Nick Millard. After going to SCAT with Andy, I went to Liverpool Polytechnic before returning to work for Wessex Water at Bridgwater. I then joined the DoE, working on various MoD sites around the country as a Public Health Engineer - anything and everything to do with clean and dirty water !! I'm currently working for Carlisle City Council as a Drainage Engineer.
'Also, if anyone remembers my older brother Paul (1969-74), I can put them in touch by e-mailing me...

A further note from Malcolm changes the address previously given here:
'Update Jan 2001 - I've since changed jobs and am now working in Manchester for a consultancy as a Public Health Design Engineer. I'm involved in a number of new building schemes in the North of England and further afield e.g. I have had to do a number of trips over to Bahrain where a new Palace is being built!! Please also be aware of my new e-mail address:muggsyath@supanet.com People may recognise my old nickname.

Michelle AULT Mitch writes (5/99): "I was at Huish's 1993 - 1995... [and am] just about to complete my degree in Environmental Science specialising in archaeology at the University of East London. Hopefully I'll be carrying that over into forensic science.
"I'm currently living in London and having the time of my life, doing lots of mad things like playing hockey for the uni team! ... And would anyone who remembers me please get in touch on m_ault@yahoo.com".
Jon AYLWIN Jon was the first of the '96 leavers to respond to my little slip in the results envelope. He has a homepage. He is now (7/99) studying Politics at Cardiff University and in May he was elected as a Councillor for the Cathays Ward of the City and County of Cardiff.

B Andrew BAKER Andy Baker - Dr A.J. Baker - was at Huish's from 1965 to 72 and says he cannot find anyone of his year in these pages. He is an approximate contemporary of Steve Harrison and remembers John Branchflower but would welcome news of others from that period. Andy can be contacted at andy@maths.gla.ac.uk
He also has a Web site at http://www.maths.gla.ac.uk/~andy - this is most likely to be of interest to dedicated mathematicians from what I've seen!
Jerry BAKER Jerry attended Huish's from 1966 to 1973 and writes (1/99): 'My cousin, Andrew Baker and my brother, David, also attended I joined at the same time as John Brawley started there and was in his form initially. After taking Maths, Further Maths and Physics, I left in 1973 to go to UCW Aberystwyth to study Applied Maths. I took my PGCE there and then started a job at Lord Wandsworth College, near Hook in Hampshire. I am still here after 21 years, now as Head of Maths'. Jerry's e-mail address is bakerj@lord-wandsworth.hants.sch.uk
John BAKER John writes, 01/05, "I was at the old grammar school from 1962 - 1967. We went to the new building, further down South Road in ( I think ) 1964.

"My comtemporaries were the likes of John Hannon, an architect in Taunton now, I believe. Alan Camier, who tolerated my presence seated next to him for several years. Dave Wase, last heard of in Australia and Steve Coles, who I run into from time to time.

"I would very much like to contact my old Latin master, A TRUE GENTLEMAN called PETE WHITTEN, ( affectionately known as CHROME DOME ) who never gave up on me, regardless of my inability to construe !! He could be occasionally side tracked from the lesson by asking him an irrelevant question about Rome !!! If any one knows his whereabouts, I should be most grateful to learn it.

"For what it is worth, I went from the old school to the Westminster Bank in 1967, onwards and upwards to the Army in 1970 and from 1975 onwards, I have been in business, mostly in Taunton, with one thing and another". John's e-mail address is JOHNBAKER49@aol.com

Since then I have served in Germany, Northern Ireland, The Falkland Islands and Norway, with the inevitable exercises in many other countries.
"More recently, life has settled down a bit and I am in that phase of an Army career when the postings become a succession of staff jobs; essentially manning a desk! Peter & Ted EWENS Peter has been working in Toulouse (Airbus Industrie) since 1980 and his brother Ted who was visiting joined him in writing. He continues "Ted was at Huish's until 64 (has been with Kodak - Graphics for 30+ yrs) and me 'till 66. Our father (Lionel) also an old boy from Arthur C's class is still living in Taunton. Strangely, also at Airbus are two more Olde Huishers, George Toller who was a prefect in the early sixties and James Mayberry who is a little younger."
Ted further writes, 3/01: "Have recently taken voluntary redundancy after 33 years in Graphics Division of Kodak. Absolutely delighted to move back from Hertfordshire to Somerset (Creech St. Michael Tel 01823 444215). Pleased to meet anyone from those days for a drink/reminisce".

Sara FEGAN Sara writes, 5/01: 'I was at Richard Huish between 1989 and 1991, studying A-Levels and was one of the students that appeared on Blockbusters (much to my embarrassment).
'After leaving, I went to Queen's University in Belfast and graduated in 1994 with a BA (Hons) in Ancient History and English. Since then I have moved about quite a bit - jobs and places - including a brief stint in the RAF. I am currently living in Birmingham and am in the final term of my PGCE in English. In September I am moving back to Somerset to start work as an English teacher at Bishop Fox's.
'I would like to hear from anyone who was at college at the same time as me'. Sara's e-mail address is sjfegan@hotmail.com
Matthew FIDDOCK Matthew is now (Sept 98) at the university of Liverpool reading Mechanical Engineering on a 3 year BEng course. He is involved with the Royal Naval support unit and receives a bursary grant which is a great help in view of the phasing out of grants and fee introduction.
He recommends Liverpool to any prospective student especially the Engineering Faculty, 'plus the social life in halls is like nothing else'! Matthew can be contacted at me0u8109@liverpool.ac.uk.
Howard P FIELD Howard's d.o.b. is 1966 and his Huish years were 1982-84. His email address is howardfield@yahoo.com and he writes, 01/03: "Have lived and travelled abroad and generally moved around a fair bit. Was in Berlin when the wall fell. A mature student graduated in "Applied Psychology and Computing" - very interesting though not strictly relevant to my working life! Also moved around jobs a fair bit, including the Millennium Commission. Currently living in Hackney and helping prop up the NHS in East Dulwich. Was hoping to hear of anyone from the football team, Bill Maidlows Tutor Group, anyone in Geography or Economics classes at that time. Or even Maths!".
Barry FLICKER Barry writes, 11/01: I attended the old Huish's Grammar School from 1965 to 1972.
I've been monitoring the Old Huish website for some time, looking out for contemporaries, but only Andrew "Butch" Baker appeared in the early days. However, a few more, such as Andrew Huish, Chris Tre-Vett and Mike Briggs, have recently "come out of the woodwork", so I thought it was about time I too made contact.
After leaving Huish's, I obtained an honours degree in civil and structural engineering from Cardiff University, and worked variously for civil engineering contractors and consulting engineers before finally settling down as a Project Engineer with South West Water in Exeter. I'm married to Caren, and have two teenaged children, Felix and Fiona, and live in Ottery St Mary, where I am Chairman of Ottery St Mary Cricket Club.
I was in "Joby" McDermott's form in the lower school, then had Bob Branton as form master in the sixth form. I was a keen member of the Air Training Corps, run by Flight Lieutenant "Sandy" Shaw, who also taught me German, and I have fond memories of other teachers such as Roy Smith (maths), Pete Strutt (geography), John "Danny" Branchflower (chemistry), and Alan "Jammy" Dukes (French), to name but a few.
It would be great to hear from any of my classmates, particularly Brian Schofield, Steve Appleton, Johnny Rose, Simon Dodd and Alan Howe, and you are welcome to publish my contact details: barryflicker@hotmail.com .
Chris FLOWER Chris writes: "I attended Richard Huish College from 1996 to 1999 and after gaining my A-levels have moved on to Bath University to study a degree in Applied Biology. I would love to hear from any ex-pupils at the college from 1996-1999 who used to know me, or any of the Earth Science staff".
Stephen FLOWER Stephen writes: 'I was at Richard Huish's from 1992 to 1994 and then went to the University of Bath to read Chemistry. I got a 2.1 and am now in my first year of a PhD at Bath studying Chemistry. If anyone wants to contact me my email address is chpsef@bath.ac.uk'

David FOURACRE Proprietor of The Tool Box, a treasure-trove of new and old woodworking and engineering hand tools, and some machines, based on a small business park by the river at Colyton, Devon. David is now (2/99) accessible by e-mail and writes as follows: 'Having left Huish in 1967, I went to Aston University where I studied chemistry. I subsequently joined Marks & Spencer where I spent 20 fascinating years in retail management up and down the country - including two stints in Scotland.
Left M & S in spring 1991, and in January 1992 bought my own business - The Tool Box - in Colyton, East Devon, where I buy and sell used tools and machinery. Thoroughly enjoying "early retirement"! - gives me lots of time for singing. Ex-Huishers very welcome at the shop - phone/fax 01297 552868 - or else email dftoolbox@aol.com
Kevin FREEDMAN Kevin writes, 7/00, "I left Huish in 1969 and now, after a tour of the country for a number of years teaching in a variety of schools, have returned to Taunton as Headteacher of The Castle School. It has been good to renew friendships, not least to meet with John Branchflower. Roy Smith also made a visit to see me at school. I would enjoy hearing from any contemporaries".
